Web 2.0 - tools for teaching

Forget capitalism and the class struggle…the digital revolution is changing things far more dramatically than the hypemongers ever imagined… the move from a society dominated by print and broadcast mass media to the age of interactivity is at least as dramatic as the move from feudalism to capitalism. Netocracy, by Jan Soderqvist and Alexander Bard (2001)

The workshop materials are available on this wiki.

Some things you need to know about Web 2.0 technologies. Web 3.0 is just around the corner!

Readings...

  • Web 2.0 supports your teaching by providing materials that students can access at home, at the local library, during their study periods at school, during lunchtime and before and after school.
  • It stores all the useful websites and resources you've found on one page, which means students don't have to randomly search google endlessly.
  • It provides students and teachers the opportunity to discuss problems and solutions in public forums.
  • Parents can see how their children are contributing to in-class discussions or coursework.
